HSA was established in 2002 starting with development of e-learning contents- Global Business English Communication- which was developed to enhance the international business capability of East Asian companies. (The company name, HSA, is based on the founding members’ common community of Harvard University; it was thus named after their place of activity, Harvard Square, Cambridge. HSA, however, is not an official affiliate of Harvard University.)
The performance of immigrants from non-English speaking countries’ mainly depends on their English fluency, especially Spoken English proficiency. HSA enhances the strategic utility of Spoken English for professional education and adopts a cognitive linguistics’ training model and a holistic approach. Its high-quality education has been acknowledged by prestigious educational institutes as well as corporate and government clients.
After establishing a branch office in 2004 in Korea, the hub nation of East Asia, HSA has provided educational services to many of Korea’s high-profile organizations, including Korea Minjok Leadership Academy, Korean Government (Defense Ministry), Arirang TV, Korea International Trade Association, POSCO, Korea Housing Corporation, LG, SAP, Purina, and Westinghouse.
In addition, the new iBT TOEFL is an opportunity for Korea and other East Asian countries to transform their English education models to become more effective as the new-generation TOEFL includes the speaking section. In light of this trend, HSA has provided TOEFL preparation services to many students via an e-learning system since 2006.
